Help Keep our Brotherhood Connected

This version of the website is dedicated to our beloved Bro. Constantino “Boy” Lopez.

Some stories in APO begin with a simple desire to serve.

This is one of them.

At the start of the new millennium, then National President Bro. Teddie Rivera asked me to serve as Chief Information Officer. My mission was straightforward: help keep our Brotherhood connected.

In those days, APO Members were scattered across cities, campuses, and even countries. We were many, but we needed a common place where information could reach everyone – reliably and consistently. The Internet was just beginning to transform the world, and I believed it could help transform the way APO communicated.

Funding, however, was a challenge.

But service does not wait for a budget.

So, on May 11, 2000, driven by the desire to give APO a digital presence, I personally registered apo.org.ph.

Soon after, Members from different parts of the world—webmasters, designers, volunteers—offered their time and skills. Together, we built the very first APO Philippines website. It became a simple but meaningful platform where Members could reconnect, receive updates, and feel the presence of APO even from afar.

In its early years, the site had a private section called “Room 214.” This area stored confidential Fraternity information, and to keep it secure, we assigned Gatekeepers to control access. It was a small but important reminder of our values of trust and responsibility.

As more Members visited the website, we realized something crucial:

we needed a dependable way to confirm each Brother’s identity online.

This led to the creation of the Reliable Alpha Phi Omega Roster (RAPOR) – an early initiative where Information Officers from every Chapter worked to maintain accurate membership records. It was a significant step toward organized digital communication in the Fraternity.

Looking back, I don’t just remember a website being built.

I remember Members reaching out, offering help, and saying, “Bro, count me in.”

I remember the spirit of Leadership, Friendship, and Service taking shape in code, conversations, and shared effort.

apo.org.ph was more than a project — it was a collective act of Brotherhood.

And even as the website has changed through the years, its purpose remains the same:

to give every Members a place to reconnect, remember, and feel at home in APO.
